Cyprus peaked at 38.7°C today, recorded at Athalassa (Visitor), under clear, dry conditions.

Tomorrow brings the real headline: a yellow high-temperature warning from the Department of Meteorology for inland areas, in force 14:00-16:59, with temperatures expected to reach around 40°C. Nicosia climbs to 38°C (feels like 40°C), Polis Chrysochous to 35°C, Larnaca 34°C, Limassol and Paralimni & Protaras 33°C (feels like 36-38°C), Paphos a milder 29°C, and Troodos stays coolest at 27°C. UV is very high everywhere, 8 to 9, so limit midday sun. No rain is expected anywhere on the island.

The sea stays swimmable and warm, 27-29°C from Limassol to Larnaca, with calm waves under 0.6m.

The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow heat warning for today, with inland areas expected to reach around 40°C between 14:00 and 16:29 - take it easy outdoors during those hours and check on anyone vulnerable to heat.

Nicosia leads at 36°C (feels like 39°C), Larnaca follows at 35°C, and Polis Chrysochous and Paralimni & Protaras both reach 34°C, with Polis feeling hottest of all at 38°C. Limassol sits at 33°C (35°C feels-like), Paphos stays milder at 30°C, and Troodos offers relief at 26°C. Four stations recorded a tropical night overnight.

The sea is warm and calm for swimming, from 27°C off Limassol to 28.5°C at Larnaca, with waves under half a metre everywhere.

Tomorrow, Nicosia climbs further to 37°C while Larnaca and Limassol ease to 33°C and Paphos cools to 29°C.
