Today topped out at 39.5°C at Athalassa, another scorcher, and eight stations logged a tropical night after it, with no rain recorded anywhere in the past 24 hours.

The Department of Meteorology has issued an orange thunderstorm warning for tomorrow, 10:00 to 18:59, with heavy rain up to 55-70mm per hour and hail possible in affected areas. Expect noticeably cooler air too: highs around 28-29°C in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paralimni, feeling like 31-34°C, with rain chances of 48-65% across the lowlands. Polis stays hottest at 34°C (feels 36°C) with a lower 33% rain chance, while Troodos cools to 21°C with a 75% chance of storms. UV stays high at 5-8, so keep sun protection through midday even under cloud.

The sea stays warm for swimming, from 28.2°C in Limassol to 29.8°C in Larnaca, with waves under a metre across the south coast.

Expect another very hot day inland: Nicosia climbs to 38°C, feeling closer to 42°C by afternoon, after a tropical night — lows stayed above 20°C at ten of the island's 54 reporting stations. Take it easy outdoors around midday and stay hydrated, especially inland.

Elsewhere it's hot but a touch more comfortable: Limassol and Larnaca reach 33°C (feels like 38-39°C), Paralimni and Protaras 32°C, Paphos a milder 30°C, and Polis Chrysochous 36°C. Troodos stays coolest at 28°C but carries a 63% chance of rain today — pack a jacket if you're heading up.

The sea is warm for swimming, around 28-29°C from Larnaca to Paphos, with calm, small waves.

Tomorrow brings real relief for most: highs generally fall to the high 20s and low 30s, topping out at 33°C in Polis Chrysochous, while Troodos cools sharply to just 20°C.
