Cyprus topped out at 40.9°C today, the island's hottest reading at Athalassa, and it was a warm night too — seven stations recorded a tropical night. No rain fell anywhere in the last 24 hours.

Tomorrow turns even hotter inland: the Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow heat warning for around 40°C over inland areas between 13:30 and 15:59. Nicosia leads at 39°C (feels like 42°C), with Polis Chrysochous close behind at 36°C (feels 42°C). The coast stays milder — Limassol and Larnaca reach 33°C (feels 38°C), Paralimni and Protaras 32°C, Paphos 30°C. Troodos tops out at 29°C with a small 5% rain chance. UV is very high (8) everywhere, and rain elsewhere is unlikely.

The sea stays warm and calm for swimming, around 28–30°C with waves under half a metre along most coasts.

Hot across Cyprus today, with Nicosia and the inland lowlands topping 39°C — Polis Chrysochous feels like 42°C in the afternoon heat, and Limassol, Larnaca, Paralimni and Protaras all reach a muggy 37-38°C. Paphos stays a touch milder at 30°C. UV is very high (index 8) everywhere, so shade and sun protection matter through midday. Troodos is the exception, staying near 28°C with a one-in-three chance of a shower.

Overnight brought little relief: eight of the 53 reporting stations recorded a tropical night, and the warmest spot this morning is Pyrgos in Tillyria at 27.3°C. The sea is warm and swimmable, around 27-29°C from Larnaca to Paphos, with calm, gentle waves under a metre.

Tomorrow brings more of the same, with Nicosia again near 39°C and little change elsewhere.
